We could have called it RodTrip, Honeymoon, Survival, Bikepack rod or Every Day Carry, as our new cane responds to all these situations: it is the one we have with us all the time, whether on a business trip, honeymoon, expedition, survival situation, bikepacking or simply in his backpack or in the trunk of the car.
Finally, we chose the name ULTRAVEL because it responds to all travel situations, from the nearest to the farthest, from the shortest to the longest.
The specifications of the new Size Matters Rod ULTRAVEL SPIN 10/50 were simple: make the most versatile spinning cane possible, in a total footprint of 40cm (50cm with the hard case).
The realization was more complicated, and it was only after 5 prototypes that the final configuration was found:
-a rod in 6 equal strands of 40cm for a total length of 7 feet / 210cm allowing to fish from the edge as in boat. The heel longer than average for a cane of this length makes it possible to strongly press the throws.
-a power of 10/50gr, line of 25lbs, allowing to use a wide range of lures and to target fish up to 10/15kg both at sea and in fresh water: sea bass, salmon, large trout, trevally, etc.
-a regular action adapted to surface lures as well as stickbaits, jigs or soft lures
-a perfect balance with a reel of size 3500 to 5000 depending on the brand
–Highest quality manufacturing: combination of high modulus carbons, rings and Fuji reel holder, all delivered in a very protective carrying case.
